DANCE AS A GIFT
Adinkra, graphic symbol of the Akan people, West Africa. Sankofa, symbolized by a bird with its feet firmly on the ground and its head turned back, reveals the need to look at the past, access the lived history and learn. The bird goes ahead, it flies, but it does not forget the story.
Dance as a gift:
Accessing the past through the body, with the body is the greatest gift we can give ourselves. Ancestral body, primordial dance, which emerges in the construction of a relationship with time. Moving time within us, building new gifts for ourselves.
The course proposes practical dance experiences with Orun Santana via the Zoom platform.
Orun develops dance research “Ancestrality of the present”, which uses the movement principles of the Orixás dance and the Acogny technique of African dances as an investigative method of the body.
SANKOFA - dance as a gift is a proposal to move ancestrally anchored in time. Connection of the past present in the body, building new futures. Access to the past is the true present to ourselves.

10/31 - Future present, elements, driving principles.
Hours: 2pm to 4pm
10/17 - “Caboclinhos: present body, state of war”.
10/24 - "Maracatu Nação: a look at dance on stage and in the street."
Hours: 10 am to 12 pm
